SISI DASH

Born in Philadelphia, Sierra Thomas (p/k/a SiSi Dash) was raised in one of the city’s first suburbs.

She began her career at age 7, taking voice lessons and singing in the church choir. She studied under DeVonne Gardner, who herself started singing at the age of 16 with Duke Ellington. DeVonne is the only living person who sang in Mr. Ellington’s Sacred Concert. Gardner typically did not take students until they reached the age of 14 (when the voice matures) however, she heard something in SiSi’s voice she felt was worth nurturing. Under the direction of Ms. Gardner, SiSi performed many songs by Yolanda Adams during her lessons and at recitals.

SiSi attended Archbishop Prendergast High School (“Prendie”) where she was a member of the chorus, city wide choir and drama club. During Prendie’s version of “The Sound of Music”, SiSi portrayed the role of Mother Abbess and her rendition of “Climb Every Mountain” brought some of the audience to tears. She also spent many summers attending camp at the Walnut Street Theatre (America’s oldest theatre) where she learned stage movement and improvisation. She attended Widener University where she was president of the chorus and later VP of the Gospel Choir. During her time at Widener, SiSi volunteered at a local radio station in Chester, PA where she hosted a weekly show. She graduated from Widener in 2013 with a degree in Business and a minor in Marketing. After graduating, she held a position with the Philadelphia Eagles as a Marketing/Inside Sales Intern. She is currently employed as a full time Inside Sales Account Representative for a major company in the Philadelphia area.

SiSi completed her debut recordings of “Good Day” and “We’re Incredible” with Grammy nominated singers/songwriters/producers Helen Bruner and Terry Jones. She has also worked with Donald Robinson and recorded “I’ll Be Right There”. On his next collaboration, Mr. Robinson tailored the song, “Can You Please Tell Me” to SiSi’s voice.

Faith, Family and Friends are SiSi’s priority. God is in her heart and R&B in her soul. She thanks God for his gifts and favor. She also thanks her mother, Sandy Dash for her undying support and management; voice teacher DeVonne Gardner for her training and encouragement; and, her fairy godmother, Sarah Dash (founding member of the legendary group “Labelle”) for her introduction to many industry professionals.
